In the event of wintry weather in our area on nights your team is scheduled to play a game, please check Immanuel Bible Church’s website ( http://www.immanuelbible.net/ ) for any cancellation updates.  IBC follows Fairfax County when deciding to cancel evening events and should have an update posted by 2pm on the front page of their website.  If you haven’t already done so, please forward me a contact number where Justin or I can reach a representative of your team in the event we have a late cancellation due to weather or some other circumstance.  I’ll do my best to post an update on our IBC basketball site as well.

It’s time to kick-off the 2010 season!  We have a total of 16 teams for the upcoming season.  We’ll be welcoming three new teams to the league, the Georgia Avenue Church of Christ, Brentwood, and College.  Who’s Next will be returning to the league after a year off as well.  Welcome everyone!  

The season starts on Tuesday January 5, 2010.  Each team plays nine regular season games.  Justin Collins will serve as my co-commissioner this year.   

Below you’ll find some important details: 

Rosters:   Final rosters are due no later than January 14, 2010. 

Waivers:  Must be filled out completely by January 5, 2010.  Players won’t be allowed to play without first signing this form. 

League Dues:  $500 per team.  This is due no later than January 7, 2010.  Please send payment to:

*Please make payable to “IBC Basketball” and include your team name on the check.

Play-offs:  The top twelve teams will advance to the play-offs.  When ties in the final regular season standings occur the following steps will be used to break these ties.

•  
  • Head-to-head competition
  • Record against common opponents
  • Strength of schedule

If these steps do not break the tie than a coin toss will be used by the league commissioner

Ministry Aspect of our League: Each game begins with a prayer and on occasion, people in the league will be given an opportunity to share what God is doing in their lives with the players and spectators.  These talks will occur between games and will last 5-10 minutes.  Please gather on the bleachers promptly following the end of the game preceding the presentation. 

Jerseys:  For those teams who placed an order for a jersey through the league, the cost will be $9.00 each. Please include the amount for the jersyes when submitting payment for your team dues.  We’ll have the jerseys ready before the first games on January 5^th. 

Rules:  Our league plays by the NCAA men’s basketball rules.
